NCQMA Fall Nationals – Salisbury, NC – November 23-24 – Quarter Midgets
Emma Race Recap

World Formula Class – “I didn’t qualify very well and we had to run the C-Main. My car was running a lot better in the race and took the lead early on but got passed and was still running a close second when something in the wheel broke and it moved my rear axle over and the chain fell off so we didn’t finish and didn’t transfer.”
Heavy Honda Class – “I qualified 7th which put us in the B-Main. On the start, someone crashed into a bunch of us and it must have hurt something in the car because it wasn’t very fast after that and we finished 7th. It was my last race in quarter midgets at our track and it was sad that we didn’t do very well but I’ve had a lot of fun over the past few years and have many good memories to take with me.”

World Formula Class – Started 1st, Finished 5th.

“This was my first time driving in this class.  We had to qualify and the throttle stuck so I had to come in and didn’t get a good lap.  They inverted and I started on the pole.  I had a  good start but fell back to third and then spun out.  After that, I was just trying to get used to the car and make some laps.”

Heavy Honda Class – Started 1st, Finished 1st

“This class is getting really competitive and I lead a few laps and then got passed.  I stayed right with the leader as we went through lapped traffic and then had a restart with 2 to go.  I got a good run off of turn four coming to the white flag and was hoping that the car behind me would come with me and he did.  We both got by the leader going into turn one and held on for the win.”

Concord Motorsports Park – Saturday November 19 – Started 22nd, Finished 3rd – Semi-Pro Legends
Ryan Race Recap

“We practiced on Friday and got the car going really god by the end of practice. Then they had to cancel the race until Saturday morning and we had to come back to run heat races and the feature. As I was coming onto the track for my heat race, a bolt broke in the rear end and we didn’t get to run and would have to line up the feature in last place. It was a 50 lap race so I knew we just had to be patient in the beginning. I was running the same times as the leaders but had to work my way through traffic and finally caught them at the end but it was too late. We ended up third which was good for us since we started so far back.”

Ryan Race Recap

World Formula Class – “Our car was pushing during qualifying but we still were able to qualify third which put us into the A-Main. During the race, our car was pretty good and we were able to get the lead early and hang on for 40 laps and get the win.”

Light 160 Class – “I went early to qualify and didn’t think our time would be too good but it was the fastest lap I had every run there in this class and it held on for third place in qualifying which locked us into the A-Main on Saturday. We started third and took the lead on the 2nd or 3rd lap but got passed about half way through. I stayed with the leader and wanted to wait until closer to the end to make a move, but he got loose so I took advantage and took back the lead. I knew it was too early as he and I swapped back and forth until for about 5 laps. I was leading on the white flag lap and should have taken the checkered but the yellow came out and we had to run one more lap. I knew Kyle would be tough on the restart so I was thinking about what I needed to do to stay ahead. I got through turns 1 & 2 good but he got a run on me in three and four but I held on and won by about a foot.”

Light AA Class – “I have always wanted to go three for three in quarter midgets meaning winning all three classes that I run in on the same night. I was thinking that tonight would be a good night to do that since this was a big race with 300 cars total being here for the Fall Nationals. I had a good shot since our Light A car is pretty good even though we only run it at big races. I had fast time and had to start fourth and since it was late at night when this class went out for our A-Main the track was slick. I got into second pretty quick but was having a hard time passing the leader even though I was faster than he was. I was getting into the corner harder but he was having to stop hard in the corner to make his car turn and it kept messing me up. I almost had him passed once but got pinched and spun out which made me have to go to the back with less than 10 laps remaining. I really wanted to win so I was doing everything (even trying to pass on the outside) and finally made the pass coming out of four on the last lap. I finally got my three for three and was happy for Paul and Kevin from Talon Chassis and my Dad who gave me fast cars to race with.”

“We were going to go watch my dad at Bristol but I looked on the schedule and two of the classes of cars we run in were “Cup” races so I really wanted to race them”

Senior Honda
Cup Race
Started 6th, Finished 2nd

Ryan Race Recap

“We started out the year winning the first two Senior Honda races but our car hasn’t been that fast since.  We qualified 7th and had to run the B-Main which I won.  Then we stated 6th in the A and got shuffled back on the start.  We starting coming to the front one by one but got knocked in the front end and had some damage so we came into the pits for repairs and had to restart last.  I could tell that something was not still not right in the front, but with cautions and some cars falling out we were able to get a 2nd place finish.”

Ryan Race Recap

“We set a new track record with a time of 5.726 which was really fast and I was excited to get this record.  It had been really hot all day long and my crew chief thought we needed to put harder tires on which wouldn’t come in real fast, but should last.  Right before our race, a little bit of rain fell and it cooled the temperature down so our plan didn’t work as well as we thought it would.  We got a caution and they called me in to change the tires since it was about half way over.  The leader ended up breaking on the restart and we came up through the field to take the win.  I wish Kyle would have been able to finish because I think it would have been a good race but I still think we were fast enough to beat him even if he didn’t have trouble.”

Ryan Race Recap

“We qualified 2nd but that put us on the outside of the second row and the outside is never a good spot to start.  We fell back to 8th before I could get down but had a fast car and started picking our way back to the front.  I got to second and held on until Cody got by me with about 8 to go.  I thought I had time to get back to him and waiting until there was about 2 to go and got underneath him and held on.  Cody and I always have good races and we have a lot of fun racing with each other.”
